Can't Judge a Dessert by its Color...

I've been on a cooking jag lately.  Maybe it was the Tapas bar experience mingled with childhood starvation fears.  I just want to cook like Mama Dip- rich, homey comfort food.  Last night I made this beautiful dessert.  Strawberries, bittersweet chocolate, a puff pastry shell.  We settled down to watch the American Gladiator finals, the sweet concoction nestled on our laps...And it was like chewing hard leather shoes.  Sigh.  I should've stuck to plain strawberries and whipped cream.  Just reminds me once again- fancier isn't necessarily better.

Sigh...But it was pretty.
